Wandering through the city has always been my favorite photographic pastime. This photo of City-Bike was taken a few years ago during a lunch hour photo walk in mid-town on west 50th street near 9th avenue using my canon 40D and a Sigma 24-70mm f2.8 lens. I had just finished my lunch at Uncle Mario’s brick oven pizzeria… pizza and a beer… delicious!
I was headed back to the office camera at the ready and there it was… it just caught my eye… A City Bike, an old 10 speed, padlocked to a stoop railing. I thought this angle of view looking down a sidewalk nearly devoid of activity for being lunch time in NYC made for an interesting composition in keeping some focus on the City Bike yet still looking down the sidewalk towards the 8th avenue intersection. I felt good after snapping this photo, to me it was a keeper that needed almost no post processing.
